Strong Future for Wood & Lumber in Hawaii Construction

Posted by HPM Marketing Team on June 10, 2013

The 2013 Wood & Lumber Resource Guide presented by the Hawaii Lumber Products Association provides an informational backdrop of Hawaii’s wood and construction scene. The articles in the issue cover the success of treated lumber and the rise in construction. You can also read up on HPM’s large projects with quotes from President & CEO, Mike Fujimoto and images featuring our wall panels.

In case you are unfamiliar with treated lumber, it was introduced to Hawaii 20 years ago when new building codes were established. Today, borate pressure treatment is widely used. HPM pressure-treats a majority of its lumber with Hi-Bor brand borate. Hi-Bor helps to protect your investment from wood-destroying organisms as well as acting as an insecticide (against ants, silverfish and cockroaches, just to name a few). On top of that, it's safe for use around people and pets when used as recommended (see insert on recent GreenGuard certification).

As for the rise in Hawaii construction, the industry continues to show signs of improvement which most recently also includes positive indicators on the neighbor islands. That's good news for contractors, lumber and building materials providers like HPM, and for all Hawaii residents as the construction industry is a significant engine in our state's overall economy.
