Selecting Materials for an HPM Home

You’ll be able to consult with our product and design specialists for many products, including kitchen and bath components, interior and exterior siding, windows and doors, framing systems, roofing systems, insulation, electrical fixtures and energy sources. We’ll have a consultation to determine the best materials for your aesthetic and price range. With all of this information, our home design team can then provide an accurate quote of potential material pricing options so you can select what’s right for you and your home project.

When selecting materials for your new home, consider your project budget and the longevity of the products. Opt for timeless materials that offer neutral tones to keep your decorating options open and able to change. Likewise, choose low-maintenance, durable materials, and prioritize upgrades to areas you’ll use often, like countertops and major appliances. With proper care, quality items will ensure your investment pays off in years to come.

A Guide to Upgrades & Customization Options

With HPM’s customizable materials, you can tailor your home to your needs and tastes. We offer material tiers of “good, better and best” to give options to suit different budgets. Since there are many products to choose from, here’s a quick rundown of the various customization options available for cabinets, countertops, flooring, plumbing, electrical fixtures and window coverings to get you started. Cabinets

Kitchen and bathroom cabinets come pre-assembled with most hardware included for easy installation. The standard design of the Akamai Collection ‘Ilima Cabinet Series is included in HPM’s package, but you have the option to upgrade to 30-inch or 40-inch high uppers, choose different configurations, or add inserts for extra storage space. Customization options are available at an additional cost, and you can upgrade to any other brands HPM carries, such as Bellmont Cabinets or Medallion Cabinetry. See all of our cabinet options.

Countertops

While pre-fabricated quartz countertops are the standard offering, you can upgrade to other materials or colors. Color offerings may differ on each island.

Flooring

HPM’s standard flooring is StrataLux Click & Lock Flooring 12 mil, which is a luxury vinyl plank that comes in five colors. However, you have the option to upgrade to other StrataLux options or other brands. The flooring covers the entire house, but you can choose different materials for different rooms, like if you want carpet in the living room and bedrooms.

Finished Plumbing

HPM Homes finish plumbing packages include quality brands like Delta, Sterling, Kohler, American Standard, Elkay, and more. The finished plumbing for the house includes tubs, shower stalls, trim fixtures, toilets, sinks, faucets, and accessories, such as towel racks, shower rods, and toilet paper holders, but these may vary by house layout. The choice between a tub or shower will depend on the home plan, so speak up during consultations if you want to make any changes. It’s important to communicate these wishes upfront with your HPM Home Planning Consultant, contractor, and plumber, as rough-in plumbing supplies are not included, and anything in the walls is not covered.

Electrical

Kichler Lighting is our standard electrical brand, and our package includes fans in bedrooms and living rooms, switches, outlets, light bulbs, exterior lights, doorbells and smoke detectors. Your electricians will pull an electrical permit to ensure the electrical is up to code in the house. The electrical layout will depend on the home plan, and custom plans are available. We offer a collection of chandeliers, sconces, pendants and fans. Recessed lighting is not standard, but it is available as an upgrade.

Window Coverings

As a leading brand in window coverings, we chose to feature Graber in our full-service program. During our one-on-one design consultations, our specialist will introduce you to their high-quality designs and expertly curated collections. Enjoy cordless options for child safety, energy-efficient designs, and environmentally-friendly fabrics, and experience the convenience of remote control or voice-activated motorized blinds and shades with Smart Home Z Wave technology. Consult and collaborate with our window coverings expert from start to finish for a seamless experience.
