[Community](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/blog/topic/community) # HOPE Project BUILT BETTER with HPM and Many Partners Three weeks ago, local contractors Gilbert Alquinaldo of Pacific Rim Construction/Big Island Electrical Service and Bronson Haunga of Haunga General Contracting, stirred up the conversation to use HPM Sheds as temporary emergency accommodations for those displaced by the Kilauea eruption. This past week, that conversation was built, literally, into reality. Twenty, what are now called HPM Micro-Shelters, were built in a matter of days with the help of over a hundred community volunteers. The shelters are part of a HOPE Services project, located on an eight-acre parcel behind the Sacred Heart Church off of Pahoa Village Road. ![Mico Shelter8](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Mico%20Shelter8.jpg?width=385&name=Mico%20Shelter8.jpg)![Mico Shelter2](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Mico%20Shelter2.jpg?width=385&name=Mico%20Shelter2.jpg) ![Mico Shelter6](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Mico%20Shelter6.jpg?width=385&name=Mico%20Shelter6.jpg)![Mico Shelter7](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Mico%20Shelter7.jpg?width=385&name=Mico%20Shelter7.jpg) ![Mico Shelter4](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Mico%20Shelter4.jpg?width=385&name=Mico%20Shelter4.jpg)![Mico Shelter3](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Mico%20Shelter3.jpg?width=385&name=Mico%20Shelter3.jpg) ![Mico Shelter 22](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Mico%20Shelter%2022.jpg?width=385&name=Mico%20Shelter%2022.jpg)![Mico Shelter 2442](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Mico%20Shelter%202442.jpg?width=385&name=Mico%20Shelter%202442.jpg) We are truly honored to have been a part of this community effort and grateful to have worked alongside so many caring individuals and organizations, including HOPE Services of Hawaii, Hawaii Island United Way, County of Hawaii, the Hawaii National Guard and many of HPM's contractor customers.  A **big mahalo** also to our vendor partners who contributed free materials and services in order to make this project feasible: [![Vendor Parter](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter.jpg)](http://hardel.com/)![Vendor Parter](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter.jpg?width=1&name=Vendor%20Parter.jpg)[![Vendor Parter2](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter2.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter2.jpg)](http://www.jensenonline.com)[![Vendor Parter3](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter3.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter3.jpg)](https://www.kwikset.com/)[![Vendor Parter4](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter4.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter4.jpg)](http://www.lynden.com/lint/index.html)[![Vendor Parter5](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter5.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter5.jpg)](https://www.matson.com/)[![Vendor Parter6](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter6.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter6.jpg)](https://www.milgard.com/) [![Vendor Parter7-1](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter7-1.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter7-1.jpg)](https://www.prattandlambert.com/)[![Vendor Parter8](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter8.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter8.jpg)](https://www.rustoleum.com/)[![Vendor Parter9-2](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter9-2.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter9-2.jpg)](https://www.strongtie.com/)[![Vendor Parter10-1](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter10-1.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter10-1.jpg)![Vendor Parter11-1](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter11-1.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter11-1.jpg)](https://www.treeisland.com/)[![Vendor Parter12-1](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Vendor%20Parter12-1.jpg?width=100&name=Vendor%20Parter12-1.jpg)](http://www.vandermeerfp.com/) ![3 (1)](https://news-savings.hpmhawaii.com/hs-fs/hubfs/3%20(1).jpg?width=806&name=3%20(1).jpg) Thank you to our manufacturing teams who designed and built the wall panels that made constructing the Micro-Shelters quick and easy.
